At the moment it has to be The Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan (who died two years ago today folks). And even though the original author is dead, the series is continuing. WoT12: The Gathering Storm is due out at the end of October, and I can't wait. The last 3 books in the series are being compiled from Jordan's notes by Brandon Sanderson.
